HAPPY NEW YEAR! No Resolutions for Moi... But I do have a WORD!

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

The heck with New Year's Resolutions - they're like saying I'm going to drive to Las Vegas ... but with no GPS or map. I have always needed to create a way to focus my thoughts & energies, otherwise I just bounce from shiny thing to shiny thing! I need a plan... I need, a WORD! This New Year, I will have a theme or word. It will be my north star & soul's compass guiding me to how I want to live this year, where I want to go & who I want to be.

I very much like entering the new year this way. Not just a new beginning, but a new attitude thought & way of being. So... decide on a word. It might help you choose to look up the exact meaning. Then WRITE IT DOWN! Post it where you will see it everyday. Move it often to keep it fresh in your mind. Say it each day, as a meditation or a way to focus. Embody it, embrace it, live it! Make this new year the beginning of living a certain way, of nurturing a certain attitude or thought. This word will be the GPS to where you will go & what you will be this year! I'm very excited & love the idea! Need some words to get you started?

Abundant Blessing Clarity Creative Dream Empowered Faith Grateful Happiness Improve Joy Karma Learn Manifest Nurture Open Prosperity Quiet Renew Simplicity Transcend Tranquil Unfolding Vibrant Wellness Xploration ;) Youthful Zen

My words? I had to pick 2 as they just seemed to go together!

— adj
1. aroused or guided by or as if aroused or guided by divine inspiration
1. aroused, animated, or imbued with the spirit to do something, by or as if by supernatural or divine influence: an inspired poet.

–noun, plural -ties.
1. a successful, flourishing, or thriving condition, esp. in financial respects; good fortune.

Are certain words swirling around in your mind? What do you want this year to be, to bring? What is your word?

We lay there & looked up at the night sky
& she told me about stars called blue squares
& red swirls & I told her I'd never heard of them.

Of course not, she said
the really important stuff they never tell you.
You have to imagine it on your own.

loving the lights and the photographs - just gorgeous

over the years i've grown to agree about resolutions and have switched to having intentions instead. those seem to help because i can then use the map or gps. i've been wishy washy on the words too.

the past three years have been such turmoil in my life that i sometimes think the words i pick end up being a challenge thrown to me instead of a touchstone. god has a funny way of giving me just what i pray for sometimes so i have to choose carefully - like the time i prayed for patience, he definitely taught me that.

happy new year joy - blessings to you in all that 2011 brings you.
